"Error - Invalid Configuration File" when trying to initiate a transfer

Issue

The error Error - Invalid Configuration File occurs when trying to initiate a transfer.

Environment

  • Product: Enterprise Server, Connect Server, Point to Point
  • Version: 2.7.1 or higher
  • Operating system: Any

Solution

Version 2.7 runs a stringent check on aspera.conf every time it is accessed. This error will be triggered if inconsistencies are found in aspera.conf. For example, if the value of Incoming Target Rate Cap is less than the value of Incoming Target Rate Default at Global level, Group level or per user level, you would get this message.

You can run the following command to get a preliminary analysis:

Windows
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Aspera\Enterprise Server\bin\asuserdata" -v

Linux
/opt/aspera/bin/asuserdata -v

Mac OS X
/Library/Aspera/bin/asuserdata -v

With this information you can fix the problems with aspera.conf accordingly.
