MSI crashes when installing Faspex

Issue

During the MSI installation of Faspex, the MSI randomly crashes with the following error message:

Solution/Workaround

Try the following steps:

Step 1: SFC Scan

Try an SFC Scan to check for the system integrity.

Step 2: Stop and Restart the Windows Installer Service

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows menu button (formerly the Start button) or press the Windows button on the keyboard.
  2. In the Start Search box type Services and then click the item Services that appears at the top.
  3. Expand the Services window and then scroll down to Windows Installer.
  4. Right-click the Windows Installer list item and then click Stop, right-click again and then click Start.

Step 3: Unregister and re-register Windows Installer.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type msiexec /unreg, and then press ENTER.
  3. Click Start, and then click Run.
  4. In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then press ENTER.

Step 4: Install the latest version of Windows Installer which is 4.5.

The download for the Windows Installer 4.5 redistributable package is available at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101159.

Step 5: Now reboot and then try installing the application and check if you get the same error.
