Error during initialize: null

Problem

The Aspera desktop application displays the error Error during initialize: null during launch, and exits. The cause is an encrypted private key file without a matching public key file.

Environment

  • Product: Enterprise Server, Connect Server, Point to Point, Aspera Client
  • Version: 2.6.3, 2.7.1
  • Platform: Any

Solution

Find the encrypted private key file without a matching public key file in the .ssh directory in the user's home directory, or in the product's etc/SSHKeys directory if the key is shared. Either add the matching public key file (with the same name followed by .pub) to the directory, or remove the private key.
