The Aspera desktop GUI, when trying to connect to a server, fails with the following error:
Failed to connect to (address): Access denied or server is misconfigured
This error is commonly due to the following:
- The server runs SSHD, the user and password are correct, but the server doesn't have an Aspera Enterprise Server, Connect Server or Point to Point installed.
- The server installation has been altered such that the login user cannot execute the command ascmd (to troubleshoot, log onto the server as this user and try to run ascmd). If ascmd cannot be executed, consult this article.
- The login user is set up with an incorrect docroot on the server. Make sure that the docroot exists and that the user has permission to access it on the remote server.
