Algorithm negotiation fail error after an upgrade of Enterprise Server to 3.5.4 from an older version on Windows


The following connection error might occur after upgrading your server or Point to Point client from versions older than 3.5.4 on Windows, or if you had leftover files from previous installs:

  • Product: Enterprise Server, Connect Server, Point to Point
  • Version: Upgrade from earlier version to 3.5.4
  • Operating System: Windows


In order to resolve the issue, locate sshd_config which may be found in locations such as:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Aspera\Client\etc
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Aspera\Point-to-Point\etc

Open the file in a text editor and add the following line:

KexAlgorithms diffie-hellman-group1-sha1

You should now be able to connect successfully with the server or client.
