Downloads button not present when using the Connect Plug-In on Connect Server/Faspex/Shares

Issue

Sometimes after installing or upgrading the Aspera Connect plugin needed for transferring at high speeds with Aspera web servers (Connect Server, Faspex or Shares), the download/upload buttons are not present.

This is usually because the browser asks the user to allow the Connect plugin to execute when the user first accesses the server webpage. If the user does not allow it, the Connect plugin is then blocked for that server and we have to unblock it in the browser configuration.

Environment

  • Product: Connect browser plugin
  • Operating System: Mac OS X
  • Browser: Safari

Instructions

In Safari, go to Preferences and click on the Security tab. Locate Internet plug-ins and click the Manage Website Settings button.

In the Website Settings window, click Aspera Web on the left side, and locate your web server on the right. Change the Block setting to either Ask, Allow, or Always Allow:

You can now go back to the server webpage and download/upload your files.

If this method doesn't work, check your Mac OS X version. The latest version of Aspera Connect plugin doesn't run on Mac OS X 10.6 or previous.
