Introduction

The Aspera Mobile Uploader application for the iPhone is an Aspera client that uses the FASP protocol for uploading files.  This application, as all other Aspera client applications, sets transfer session specific meta information in the format of a so called transfer cookie.   The cookie is a text string that is associated with a file transfer session.

Cookie Format

The uploader sets the transfer cookie as follows: 

aspera.mobupload:<md5-hash-of-device-id>

The last field contains the iPhone device ID, AKA UDID, encoded as an MD5 hash.

Note: The md5-hash of the device id was chosen rather than the id itself because of privacy concerns. For convenience, the md5-hash of the id is also displayed in the settings view of the uploader (last entry entitled "Device"):
