How to do a Silent Installation of High-Speed Transfer Server (formerly Enterprise Server/Connect Server), High-Speed Transfer Endpoint (formerly Point-to-Point Client), and Desktop Client

Summary

This article describes how to run a silent (non-interactive) installation of v2.6.0 or higher of High-Speed Transfer Server (formerly Enterprise Server/Connect Server), High-Speed Transfer Endpoint (Point-to-Point Client), or Desktop Client for Windows.

Environment

Product:

  • IBM Aspera High-Speed Transfer Server, IBM Aspera High-Speed Transfer Endpoint, and IBM Aspera Desktop Client version 3.8.0 or higher
  • Aspera Enterprise Server, Connect Server, Point-to-Point, Desktop Client version 2.6.0-3.7.4

Operating System:

  • Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, 7, 10, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016

High-Speed Transfer Server (Enterprise Server)

The following steps install HST Server (Enterprise Server/Connect Server) v2.6.x in a non-interactive mode:

1. Run Windows Command Prompt as an Administrator.

2. Run the following command:

IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe /msicl "ADDLOCAL=ProdEntServer,FASP,ScpClient,Central,ARPWrapper,SSHServer,PostProcessor,SYNC,FASPFRAMES,NODE ASPERA_SSHD_USER=svcAspera ASPERA_SSHD_USER_CONVERTED=.\svcAspera ASPERA_SSHD_PASS=password" /quiet /log installation.log
  • Command arguments are case-sensitive.
  • Replace IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe with the exact name of the package.
  • Replace the two instances of svcAspera with the service account that will be used to run the Aspera Services.
  • Replace the one instance of password with their account's password.
  • "ARPWrapper" is required for versions 3.8.0 and newer
  • This command installs OpenSSH for your SSH server. See the following sections for other customizations.

Domain Service Accounts: For domain account, instead of passing in "svcAspera" to the user arguments, pass in the domain account in these formats:

Set Install Directory: You can also optionally specify the install directory with the INSTALL_DIR setting, and adding ARPWrapper to the ADDLOCAL setting:

Install with HST Server (Connect Server) Web UI:

  • Replace IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe with the exact name of the package.
  • Replace the one instance of Default Web Site with the name of the Web Site to which you want to install Connect Server.
  • "ARPWrapper" is required for versions 3.8.0 and newer.

Install without OpenSSH:

IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe /msicl "ADDLOCAL=ProdEntServer,FASP,ScpClient,Central,ARPWrapper,PostProcessor,SYNC,FASPFRAMES,NODE ASPERA_SSHD_USER=svcAspera ASPERA_SSHD_USER_CONVERTED=.\svcAspera ASPERA_SSHD_PASS=password WEBSITEDESCRIPTION="Default Web Site" " /quiet /log installation.log
  • Replace IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe with the exact name of the package.
  • "ARPWrapper" is required for versions 3.8.0 and newer.

Install with the Trap Service:

  • Replace IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe with the exact name of the package.

Install with the ALEE Service:

  • Replace IBMAsperaHighSpeedTransferServer.exe with the exact name of the package.

3. View installation.log in a text editor to confirm that the installation completed successfully. An entry near the end of the log should report that the installation completed successfully.
