After acquiring your SSL certification for Shares On Demand, you must apply them to the server and restart the aspera_shares_nginx service. Here are the steps to do so.
1) Change the current working directory to the Shares configuration directory(where the certification files are located) and create a backup of the original certification keys:
[root@shares]# cd /opt/aspera/shares/etc/nginx
[root@shares]# cp cert.pem cert.pem.org
[root@shares]# cp cert.key cert.key.org
Note: Intermediary certificates must be bundled with the CA certificate into a single certificate file. This bundle cert is then used in step number 2 below.
cat real_cert.crt intermediary_cert.crt >> bundle.crt
2) Move your newly acquired SSL cert files or the bundle.crt (if you have an intermediary certificate) to /opt/aspera/shares/etc/nginx and rename the certification file to cert.pem the and key file to cert.key
[root@shares]# cp cert-from-cert-auth.com /opt/aspera/shares/etc/nginx/cert.pem
[root@shares]# cp bundle.crt /opt/aspera/shares/etc/nginx/cert.pem
[root@shares]# cp cert-key.key /opt/aspera/shares/etc/nginx/cert.key
3) Restart nginx:
[root@shares]# /opt/aspera/shares/sbin/sv restart nginx
4) Verify your newly installed certificate by visiting your shares web page using HTTPS(e.g., https://shares.companyname.com). A green, blue, or other colored lock or icon will appear here. Selecting this icon will give you the verification information and, if the certification applied successfully, will state "Identification Verified," perhaps using slightly different wording, depending on your current browser.
