As we’ve shared with you in our earlier post, Aspera has introduced the next generation of our core transport platform, fasp 3™ -- the most universal high-speed data transport technology available today. fasp 3 extends the performance and flexibility of the Aspera software environment to support all high-speed data transfer and automation scenarios in media and entertainment and all industries that rely on the exchange, processing, storage and distribution of large data.
All upcoming releases of Aspera’s transfer servers and transfer clients (versions 3.0 and above) will be shipping with fasp 3 technology. To enable the latest set of features and performance enhancements, these products will feature updated OS compatibility profiles.
In particular, Enterprise Server, Connect Server, Point-to-Point and Desktop Clients will now support Mac OS X 10.8, while discontinuing support for Mac OS X 10.4. Also note that support for all Mac OS X PPC versions has been discontinued as of versions 2.5 of these Aspera software products.
The new Aspera Connect browser plug-in version 3.0 also adds support for Mac OS X 10.8 while discontinuing support for Mac OS X 10.4. Support for all Mac OS X PPC versions has been discontinued as of Connect version 2.7. Connect 3.0 also extends support to the 64-bit version of Windows Internet Explorer (with 64-bit version of Firefox and Safari already being supported in previous releases).
Upcoming releases of Aspera’s web applications and Aspera Connect Server, based on fasp 3 technology, will require the use of Connect 3.0 browser plug-in. We expect to begin rolling out these new applications starting in January of 2013. Please contact our support team with any questions in regards to these changes.
