How do I set the permissions on transferred directories and files?

Description

You can configure the permissions that should be applied to directories and files transferred to your server. These permissions would apply to directories and files created by transfers on a non-Windows (Linux or Mac) transfer server.

Configuration

Permissions must be set in octal values (for example, 755). The recommended method of configuration is with the command-line tool asconfigurator.

On the system with your transfer server (Enterprise Server, Connect Server or Point to Point), you can run the commands below to set permissions.

To apply permissions globally to all transfers

asconfigurator -x "set_node_data;directory_create_mode,octal_value"

Example

asconfigurator -x "set_node_data;directory_create_mode,775"

To apply permissions to transfers with users in a specific group

asconfigurator -x "set_group_data;group_name,your_group;directory_create_mode,octal_value"

Example

asconfigurator -x "set_group_data;group_name,aspera;directory_create_mode,755"

To apply permissions to transfers with specific users

asconfigurator -x "set_user_data;user_name,transfer_user;directory_create_mode,octal_value"

Example

asconfigurator -x "set_user_data;user_name,legolas;directory_create_mode,755"
